First workshop Actualistic Taphonomy in South America

Montevideo, Uruguay
October 09-11, 2017

Actualistic Taphonomy. A key to understand the taphonomy of ancient deposits is the observation of present physical-chemical and biological processes concerning potential future fossils. The workshop is intended for paleontologists, sedimentologists, archaeologists and other researchers interested in these fossiliferous deposits-forming processes.

Workshop Actualistic Taphonomy in South America
October 9-11
2017
As announced earlier, we are organizing in Montevideo the first Workshop on Actualistic Taphonomy in South America. The proposed format is that of a workshop sensu stricto, i.e., a small meeting acting as a catalyst of a group of researchers with a common interest.

Place. Facultad de Ciencias (Universidad de la República), Montevideo, Uruguay. https://goo.gl/maps/4v9ysnK3Mi92

Date. October 9-11, 2017.

Languages. The presentations and abstracts can be in Spanish, Portuguese and English.

Topic. Presentations and abstracts may cover any aspect concerning Actualistic Taphonomy in South America (projects, works concluded or not, theoretical issues, etc.).

Registration and reception of abstracts. Until 31/07/2017. Send abstracts up to 300 words, without formatting (including title, authors and affiliation and text) to smart@fcien.edu.uy with the subject Abstract Workshop. Abstracts will be published electronically.

Presentations. Exclusively in oral form.
There are some possibilities regarding the publication of a thematic volume with research papers. This will be discussed in the workshop.

Fees. No fees, no special benefits.

Accommodation. Montevideo has a very good offer of hotels, hostels and restaurants (unfortunately none of them within walking distance of the Facultad de Ciencias). Since the city is visited all the year, it is convenient to book with a reasonable anticipation.
